Let’s Dance, Shall We?

Shall we dance the night away under the stars? Or would you rather dance in the moment the sun introduces itself to the world? Shall we dance in a room filled with loved ones? Or would you rather dance in the presence of strangers? Would you like to dance alone to your favorite record? Or would you rather have a partner? Will you dance in the rain? Would you dance in your pain? Or would you only dance when everything is going according to your plan? Why would you dance? It doesn’t matter either way, the choice is yours.

Let me blind fold you for a moment. Trust me, it’s not a “50 Shades” of anything going on here. LOL. Take a walk with me for a moment and enter into my imagination, will ya? You enter into a room and immediately smell the scents of lavender, chamomile, and a hint of vanilla. Your first response to this calming aroma is to relax and take a deep breathe. At the very moment you exhale, you take a few more steps into the room. You notice that your footsteps sound differently and the flooring beneath you is different.

The blind fold is tied tightly around your eyes. All of a sudden the music begins and you begin snapping your fingers. Before you know it, your feet have lead you out further onto the dance floor. You are completely tickled at yourself for allowing yourself to be captivated in this moment. It’s so unlike you to be comfortable in an unknown place. Without your knowledge you have completely danced all the way across the dance floor toward some double doors.

The room is filled with photos from your life. Most of all the great moments and there are some photos that were taken in the not so great times of your life.  All of which have been strategically placed inside decorative light bulbs. There are hundreds of these bulbs dangling anxiously awaiting to be illuminated. And of course, the dance floor chandelier is trimmed in gold and it’s dripping emerald icicles. Unique in it’s design and so rare, that there are only 2 of its’s kind in the world.

Before you know it, a hour has passed, still dancing. You’re really in your zone! But, suddenly the upbeat tempo becomes dreary and somewhat depressing. You begin asking yourself things like; Why did the music change and how long have I been here?  Right before you ask another question, you hear someone whisper saying, “Take off your blindfold.”

You immediately take off the blind fold, and you find yourself alone in a beautiful ballroom. You notice the polished cathedral cherry wood flooring and you look up to see the chandelier. Right outside the doors, you notice a hallway filled with huge boxes all addressed to you. You recognize the handwriting because it is your own. You suddenly smile because you have finally found all the things that you thought you’ve lost.

Your peace, joy, passion, understanding, wisdom, love, God’s grace, and Faith are all in this room! You’ve danced through life sometimes blindly but led by God! You’ve avoided all obstacles by grace and now you’re here to gather all your spoils!  No longer hidden, but right in front of you to grab hold to. So dance my love, all of which was lost is now found!

Enjoy the ride and dance nonstop!

Still dancing,

Shamonda
